At Horsham unit, we do not at present have a Marine cadet detachment. So in order to protect our sailors when they are ashore on land operations, many of them volunteer for land based combat training in order to offer this.
This training is purely voluntary and does not form part of the regular Sea Cadet syllabus, so the combat skill you will learn will be on top of your normal Sea Cadet training.
What skills are covered by the CSP
The Cadets in the CSP are taught all the same skills that are taught to the Army and Marine Cadets, so these cadets are the best of the best. Not only are they trained to be sailors, they are trained to be soldiers as well.
Each member of the CSP has a workbook containing all the combat skills they need to learn which is signed off when they are competent in each skill.
Who can join?
If you are a member of the senior section at TS GLORY and have an interest in the land based combat side of the military, you can volunteer. But be warned, sometimes it can be very hard work and you will often get very wet and muddy.
