Once you are in uniform, you can then start training in one of the many specialisation branches and obtain a badge to be worn on your uniform that denotes your class in that specialisation. You will start off with a third class qualification before progressing to second, and then, if your knowledge of the subject is complete, you will finally acheive a first class qualification in that subject. Only the most dedicated of cadets ever acheive a first class specialisation badge

As well as specialisations, there are proficiency badges that can be earnt and these can also be worn on your best uniform.
Although easier to get than a specialisation qualification, you still have to work very hard to obtain one. There are many proficiencies which can be undertaken and no limit to how many you take, however you wont be able to wear all the badges on your arm as there is a limit of only two water-borne and two other proficiency badges that can be worn at any one time.
